When I signed up for the TalkTalk Pro plan I got a free Netgear DGN2000 Wireless-N ADSL2+ Modem Router. I had problems streaming videos over my network from my desktop to the Medi@ TV Digital Media Player (DMP). The DGN2000 had no Quality of Service (QoS) function in the menu system, so i could not give priority to the streaming video data or VOIP services.
With my busy network which included an Internet Radio, two Desktops, one Laptop, a LinkStation NAS and a DMP. The DMP video stream became interupted with heavy network traffic. The router has TalkTalk firmware (V1.2.12TT) so you are not able to just download the latest firmware from the Netgear Website. I fould a forum post that solved the Locked TalkTalk firmware problem on the DGN2000 wireless router.
Solution
Make the TalkTalk locked router think it is having a TalkTalk approved firmware upgrade. Download the latest Netgear firmware for the DGN2000, which is currently 1.1.8.0 for UK users. The Netgear Support Site allows the download of the DGN2000_V1.1.8.0.img file. This file can be renamed to DGN2000_V1.2.13TT.img which is a revision higher than the routers current TalkTalk (12TT) firmware.
Login to your router (http://192.168.1.1) using your internet browser and on the right click on Router Upgrade under the Maintanence section. Select the DGN2000_V1.2.13TT.img file and let the router upgrade without turning off either the PC or router. Be Patient!
